Graduation Dinner

On Saturday we had a get together at my house with all my family. I have been calling it a cook-out but really we didnt grill, my mom and sister put together a big meal of nacho's with all the fixings and quesadilla's. It was GREAT! Mexican food is my all time favorite and I could eat nacho's, salsa, guacamole, etc. every day! I chose to do this instead of grill hamburger's because it always stinks to be the one stuck behind the grill at things like this. The day was beautiful in every way. The weather was perfect, the pool was open (and kids even swam in the freezing water), and my family and friends were there and appeared to be having a great time.
I was reminded that day about the story I have heard a billion times about how the house may not be perfectly cleaned or look perfect but instead of worrying about it we should invite people over, use the china, etc. because life is short! Anywhere you walk in my house you will see some bit of work that has yet to be finished; carpet is pulled up in dining room but have yet to finish sanding and re-finishing wood floor; wall in kitchen has been mudded but still need to paint it...too many to list but many various stages of remodeling uncomplete! But...no one missed a beat, no one turned their nose up at our lack of completion; instead, everyone had a great time visiting and I couldn't have asked for a better day! Really, as corny and cheese ball as it sounds, we DO need to cherish every moment, every opportunity to spend time with those we love and do so at the speed of a turtle! Too many times we find ourselves saying, I should have, I wish I would have...the end of nursing school signals my opportunity to slow down and enjoy the little things! I pray that God will daily remind me of all that I have missed the past four years and I will remember to cherish the little things!

My Beautiful Family!

Without these three, and God, I never would have made it through nursing school. They were my biggest support system! Kenneth put up with so much from me...tears, anger, frustration; he allowed me to take things out on him when HE wasn't even the problem and still forgave me many times! He is my rock. The girls dealth with me stress, as well. The two of them had to pick up more house work and never complained but, even better, they prayed for me every test day at 9am. "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16

Thoughts

So, I woke up this morning and realized that I have no book that needs to be opened, no test to study for, no lecture to sit through and thought to myself...life is great! I have sat here at my computer and wasted 30 minutes of my precious time basically doing nothing. The past four years I have learned the art of multie (sp?) tasking that I have forgotten what it is like to do just one thing! I found myself the other day brushing my teeth and putting my deoderant on at the same time. As if one of them takes so long to do! I have also constantly had my laptop open at the kitchen table paying bills as I study in between webpage changes or clicks of the keyboard! At ballgames you would have seen me toting some powerpoint lectures or my big Med/Surg book- Jovi has to be there 30 minutes early- valuable study time gone to waste, otherwise! Stop lights...powerpoints. Lunch...powerpoints. Bathroom time...powerpoints. I want to create a book holder and page turner that suspends from the ceiling and moves down to face level at the touch of a button for my bathtub! My books and papers always have water spots from baths spent studying (those who know me, know I like my baths)! My passenger seat of my car has been covered in school stuff for so long that I think it has permanent indentions from my books! Madness, total madness for 4 years! I awoke this morning and quickly realized, I need some hobbies! I like my madness, it is who I am, it defines me. I have managed to make it through, my family still loves me and my kids don't seem totally damaged from it all...life trully is good!!!

Any hobby ideas, send them my way!

I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, all! Today I took my final exam and am officially done with Nursing School! I never thought this day would get here and now that it is, it is kind of surreal. But...I graduate Friday night and if it doesn't feel real now, it will when I go to work on Monday morning in my new role! More to come later when I have more time.
